Classroom Procedures
Classroom procedures are necessary so that everyone will know the acceptable and efficient ways for completing tasks.
- Entering the classroom –Enter in a quiet and respectful manner. Turn in any homework assignments/projects in the designated area. Take your seat and prepare for the day’s lesson.
- When you are tardy – You must have a pass from the teacher from whom you are coming or the office, or you will be marked tardy.
- Leaving the room during class – No one is supposed to leave the room during the class period. Use the three minutes between classes for restroom use.
- End-of-period dismissal – Remain in your seats until the teacher dismisses the class.
- Asking a question – Raise your hand if you have a question, do not blurt or shout out.
- Listening and responding to questions – When a question is directed to the entire class, raise your hand and wait for the teacher to call on you. Resist shouting or blurting out the answers. When the question is directed to a particular student, do not answer for that student or try to give that student the answer you think is correct. When it is your turn to answer, please do so in an appropriate tone.
- Turning in papers – Tests and quizzes are to be placed in the space provided on the work table. All homework is to be placed in your folders. Homework will be turned in daily at the start of class and will be checked for completeness and accuracy.
- Visitors or phone calls – If someone comes to the door or calls on the phone, all students are to remain silently in their seats. The teacher will answer the door or phone, and while he is occupied, students will remain quiet.
- Where to find homework/project assignments – Assignments will be posted on the assignment chart in the room and on the teacher’s web page. You can also check with another student in the class.
- Sharpening pencils – Please try to bring several sharpened pencils to class each day. If you need to sharpen one, however, do not disrupt the class. Walk over to the sharpener and quietly sharpen your pencil then return to your seat or use your own hand-held sharpener.
- All hand written work, turned in for a grade, must be completed with a pencil.
